Muscat

Muscat Blancs à Petits Grains or Frontignac is a white grape that produces popular light, grapey wines like Moscato and White Frontignac. It is also used to produce the world renowned fortified Muscats of Rutherglen. Where the wine is partially fermented, fortified and left to age. Rutherglen produces world class dessert wines, that are rich, lush and treacly with beautiful flavours of orange, raisins and honey.

In France it is used to produce the distinctive Muscat de Beaumes de Venise. It is produced by adding grape spirit to the partly fermented must, this produces a deliciously sweet wine with rich grapey aromas balanced by fruity acidity.

In Italy it is the oldest known variety grown in Piedmont and is the primary component of the Asti Spumante and Moscato d'Asti wines, and is used to make vermouths.

It is the only wine grape that produces wines that actually taste of grapes, and can produce a range of wines from pale, bone dry whites, through to golden yellow, rich, sweet wines.
