GLAETZER 'AMON-RA' SHIRAZ 2010, 750ml (Bottle)

  • Outstanding length and persistence of flavour. Perfectly balanced.
  • The nose is already displaying complexity with perfumed aromas of blackberry, liquorice allsorts and confectionary followed by some pepper and vanillin end notes.
  • The palate is that rare Barossa interplay of finesse and power. It refrains from relying solely on sheer size and extraction like so many other Barossan extravaganzas. Full bodied, with generous mouthfilling flavours of blackberry, blackpepper and liquorice followed by some vanilla and confectionary with the blackpepper persisting onto the back palate.

DOMAINE REMI JOBARD MEURSAULT 'LES CHEVALIERES' 2009, 750ml (Bottle)

  • The Jobard's own and run eight hectares of vines spread throughout Monthelie and Meursault. A small negociant business was started in 2003 to supplement the estates production. All the wines are made from purchased grapes that are treated exactly as the estate wines. Charles son Remi is now in charge of the operation, and he is regarded by many as a rising star of the region, his wines described as "clean, pure and modern in the best sense". Low yields and strict bunch selection ensures that only the best grapes make it into the winery. New oak is used in moderation.
  • Vestiges of sulfur can be seen but they should be quickly absorbed, which will allow the otherwise elegant lemon, white pear and stone aromas to shine.
  • The detailed, intense and solidly precise flavors also brim with a fine minerality, all wrapped in a balanced and delineated finish that exudes plenty of underlying tension.

  • A hint of post-bottling SO2 detracts only mildly from the otherwise pretty pear, white peach and lemon juice aromas.
  • A supple and quite forward middle weight flavors that culminate in a citrusy and moderately persistent finish.
