YARRA YERING PINOT NOIR 2008

Produced from what are amongst the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Yarra Valley, this wine, along with the Chardonnay, has developed an underground following over its existence that is slowly burgeoning to be recognised as standing in equipollence alongside the, historically, more fancied wines from the estate
Aristocratic, fragrant, intensely perfumed
Voluptuous, sweet strawberry/plum richness, anise, beetroot, silky in texture, richness, round, soft and mouthfilling to the end. Also, has the rare ability to gain from bottle age rather than diminish

Block B is a selection of the Dijon Pinot Noir clones; specifically the clones 115, 667, 777, 114 and 113. Hand-picked and careful selection of grapes. 100% de-stemmed, cold-maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats and left on skins for 3 weeks. Aged in 50% new and 50% used French oak barriques for 18 months.
A an astonishing nose of ripe blackberry, plum and blueberry then turning quiet floral after a while. Coffee and sweet oaky notes.
The palate is complex laced with morello cherries and plums, pure darkfruits with some hints of wild basil, truffles and tea leaves. Quiet dense but still elegant. Great length and intensity, perfect balance with a minerally sweet finish.

This Cuvee is made exclusively with Chardonnay from Chouilly. It owes the lively character that makes it very different from the classical Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs to the inclusion of wines that have not been through malolactic fermentation. Vinification and dosage are also carefully adjusted to enhance this light, thirst-quenching character. The proportion of wine matured in wood is less than in the classical Cuvee and the dosage of 3 g/l accentates the natural vivacity of this wine even more.
Very floral, lively and fresh with blossom scents and discreet hints of dried fruit.
Surprisingly fresh for a 100% Chouilly wine, usually renowned for its flesh, buttery character. A slight hint of citrus on the palate, lively, tangy and refreshing.

BLEND : 100 % Pinot Noir Premier Cru from Bisseuil, located on the Montagne de Reims. A single-cru, single-variety, single-year champagne that pays homage to the power of the Pinot Noir. Fruity and full-bodied, it is very lightly dosed.
The first nose is most expressive, combining finesse, power and freshness. The second nose, meanwhile, returns to a more traditional Pinot Noir style of red fruit and floral scents. The range of aromas is rich, with fruit (quince, apricot and raspberry), flowers (iris, rose and peony), vegetal hints (ginger, jasmine and cedar) and spices (cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom).
The attack is smooth and tasty, leading into a fine balance between flesh and fluidity. The fruit is mellow and slightly stewed, set off nicely by surprising freshness. This wine is exceptionally long-lasting on the palate, culminating in a finish of great purity thanks to a dosage that is kept to the strict minimum.

Yoshis top cuvee comes from the Pisa Range Terrace which is made up of gravel and high mineral content soils. 100% Whole bunch fermentation, 7 days carbonic maceration and 15 months in 50% new French oak produces a deep, murky and full of interest pinot noir.
Mulberries, macerated dark fruits with an elegant and enchanting nose.
Layered with great detail and finesse there is kitchen spice, cloves and a sappy texture. Minerals and fruit driven tannins weave a long and focused finish.

An intense bouquet, with the emergence at the start of fine ripe plum, blackcurrant and morello fruit, and a spiced finish of black pepper, vanilla and tobacco.

The aroma shows characters of sweet spices, cedary earth and tar, and dusty berries.
