DOG POINT CHARDONNAY 2009, 750ml (Bottle)

  • Shellfish, fish, white meats and especially a BBQ rack of pork.
  • Lifted aromas of grapefruit, fresh lime and a degree of minerality combined with roasted hazelnuts and toasty yeast characters derived from eighteen months evolution in French oak barrels.
  • The finely structured palate has a chalky textural complexity, as a result of an indigenous ferment and yeast lees contact, complimented by intense citrus and fig flavours.

TERREZAS DE LOS ANDES TORRONTES RESERVA 2009, 750ml (Bottle)

  • A fantastic white grape variety - this is sure to take off in Australia.
  • Its white flower aromas such as orange blossom and rose combine harmoniously with its intense fruity notes of pear, mango and passion fruit.
  • It is fruity and sensual, with an excellent acidity expressed in an outstanding freshness. With great aromatic and taste persistence, characteristic of this variety.

BODEGAS CALVENTE GUINDALERA BIANCO 2010

  • Arresting and full of refreshing, fragrant pleasure, it's one of those exotic, eccentric wines - from a far flung, tiny parcel of mountainous rock - that naturally induces an internal warmth and, well, puts a smile on your face.
  • Honeycomb, pollen, tagine spices, ripe peach and fresh grape with a stony, almost saline minerality.
  • In the mouth, it is more mineral and less grapey, but the mid palate is still finely scented by variations on lemon - confit, fresh, verbena - then wood-spice and anise, with meaty/spicy/salty notes.

OCEAN EIGHT PINOT GRIS 2011

  • The rich soils of Red Hill on The Mornington Peninsula where Ocean Eight has planted its Pinot Gris vineyard is ideal for making the gris style. The Ocean Eight Pinot Gris is a FANTASTIC food wine.
  • There is a delicate citrus and floral perfume on the nose with lemon and tangerine being the most overt. In addition there are some almonds and pears.
  • The texture is the key to this wine and indeed the style of the variety. Here it is substantial with almost an oily viscosity. There is a contrast with the delicate perfume by the rich texture. The finish is dry and lingers with plenty of crisp acid.

DOMAINE DU VISSOUX 'LES GARANTS' FLEURIE 2010

  • This cuvee should reconcile anybody whos ever been disappointed with Beaujolais. It shows that there are truly great terroirs within the Crus, like that of Les Garants which used, in fact, to be part of the Moulin a Vent AOC area. This is a really complete Fleurie, which combines finesse and elegance with concentration and depth. It is very enjoyable in the fruit of its youth but holds back a few surprises to unveil after a few years cellaring.
  • Quite intense and delicate A very floral bouquet (rose, iris, violet) with spicy notes (nutmeg).
  • This noble Fleurie terroir, along with the south-westerly aspect gives thoroughbred tannins. The mouthfeel is full and generous, the fruit intense, lively and sappy. Blackcurrant, redcurrant and the North American Black raspberry or black cap are at the fore with a light touch of vanilla, long at the end.
