CLOS DE TART GRAND CRU 2007, 750ml (Bottle)

  • From a monopole vineyard in Morey St Denis, Clos de Tart Grand Cru 2007 is an icon burgundy from a great year.
  • Red & Black fruits some darker, liquorice & spice notes.
  • Rich, powerful and full of sappy satisfaction. Despite the quality oak, the tannins support a lush, grandiose palate that leads to a long, young mineral finish.

DOMAINE FOUGERAY DE BEAUCLAIR FIXIN 'CLOS MARION' 2009, 750ml (Bottle)

  • This is also noticeably reduced though a deft touch of wood is discernable. This should be lovely with a few years of bottle age. Score: 88-90
  • Wine notes to follow soon.
  • There is good mid-palate fat to the rich, forward and very supple flavors though the finish tightens up considerably on the rustic, complex and lingering finish.
Domaine Fougeray De Beauclair Fixin 'Clos Marion' 2009

BENJAMIN LEROUX AUXEY-DURESSES BLANC 2008, 750ml (Bottle)

  • Leroux certainly knows how to harness the potental of his limestone-based sites, and there is real mineral drive and persistence here. If you are looking for a point of reference, think Hubert Lamy St-Aubin as much as Meursault.
  • Aromas of lime and orange blossom, hazelnut.
  • It ofers up a zingy, punchy personality in the mouth yet also good underlying texture and length.

DOMAINE ARMAND ROUSSEAU CLOS DE LA ROCHE 2006, 750ml (Bottle)

  • Great stuff here and worth a look. Drink 2014+
  • Interestingly this is almost like a hypothetical blend of the Charmes and Mazis with the elegance of the Charmes allayed with the power and punch of the Mazis as this too evidences red and blue fruit.
  • On the palate is an earthy spiciness that slides into rich, full and relatively powerful flavors that possess obvious finishing minerality on the solidly long and palate staining finale.
Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos De La Roche 2006

DOMAINE ARMAND ROUSSEAU CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2006, 750ml (Bottle)

  • An extremely impressive wine and one of the finest wines of the vintage.
  • Its as though the Clos de B and Chambertin have switched places in 2006 as here the nose is positively kaleidoscopic with a huge range of aromas and spice elements.
  • Leads to fresh, pure, round, rich and focused fullbodied flavors that carry obvious muscle and minerality on the deep, powerful and hugely long finish.
Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru 2006

DOMAINE BOUCHARD PERE ET FILS MONTRACHET GRAND CRU 2008, 750ml (Bottle)

  • A true 'wow' wine.
  • At the risk of waxing poetic, the nose is genuinely like a spring day in a garden with utterly beguiling and multifaceted aromas of an implausibly broad variety of flowers, spices, discreet pain grille, roasted nuts and a hint of garrigue.
  • A dense, brooding and very serious flavors that are borderline massive yet, like the Cabotte, betray absolutely no sense of undue weight or blowsyness. The explosive finish stains the palate and coats the mouth with dry extract and this is one of the greatest examples of this wine that I have ever seen from Bouchard but be prepared to be patient.
Domaine Bouchard Pere Et Fils Montrachet Grand Cru 2008

DOMAINE REMI JOBARD MONTHELIE 'SUR LA VELLE' 1ER CRU 2009, 750ml (Bottle)

  • The Jobard's own and run eight hectares of vines spread throughout Monthelie and Meursault. A small negociant business was started in 2003 to supplement the estates production. All the wines are made from purchased grapes that are treated exactly as the estate wines. Charles son Remi is now in charge of the operation, and he is regarded by many as a rising star of the region, his wines described as "clean, pure and modern in the best sense". Low yields and strict bunch selection ensures that only the best grapes make it into the winery. New oak is used in moderation.
  • A slightly rustic but attractively complex nose speaks of mostly red berry fruit aromas that reflect notes of earth and a hint of underbrush.
  • Nicely detailed flavors that exude a finer minerality on the delicious and equally rustic finish. Pretty
Domaine Remi Jobard Monthelie 'sur La Velle' 1Er Cru 2009

DOMAINE HARMAND GEOFFROY MAZIS CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2008, 750ml (Bottle)

  • Mazis-Chambertin lies at the northern end of the Grand Cru slope, directly adjacent to Clos-de-Beze and below Ruchottes. This comes from 6 different parcels in both Mazis Haut and Bas (that average 45+ years of age and total .73 ha)
  • The aromatics are redolent of dark cherry fruit, dried rose notes, and warm earth.
  • "strikingly rich, full-bodied, muscular and quite powerful flavors display plenty of the sauvage character that Mazis is famous for, all wrapped in a palate staining and driving finish that completely coats the mouth. This should age well and be worth the wait." Burghound
