"This is a favourite Pinot Gris!"
This wine has a lovely pear and white stone fruit character. Very similar on the palate, with some beautiful spice and richness.

Jancis Robinson MW described Pinot Gris as a “notoriously degenerate vine variety.” She further adds that Pinot Gris has a ‘chameleon-like ability to adapt the style of wine it produces to each different environment.” Plantings of Pinot Gris have recently increased up to 100% in countries such as NZ, Australia, the United States and even as far off as the Ukraine, and as a direct result the the global marketplace of wine has witnessed an avalanche of Pinot Gris with wine bars the world over serving chilled Gris to thirsty customers by the oil tanker. But prior to Gris, or Grigio as it is known as in Italy, Sauvignon Blanc was rained supreme...and some would argue still does. So what is it about this variety that we simply can get enough of? One factor is that is has become more of a ‘early to market wine’ and can be bottled and be on the shelves within 4–12 weeks after fermentation. But perhaps the best explanation as to why it has become a mainstream variety is that its just so easy to drink. Delatite, which enjoys spectacular views of Mt. Buller in Victoria, are masters of cool climate aromatic whites and their 2011 Gris is one such example. Faint pink-straw; perfumed with pear and spice on both the nose, this is a fantastic dry aromatic white with beautiful crisp acid, genuine complexity and real fruit concentration on the palate and if you’re wondering which side of the gris/grigio debate this sits - it errs on the fuller, richer rounder gris style. If you’re a fan of drinking your whites young then consume it over the next 2 years, otherwise wait for it to develop honey tones that will follow over the next 4 to 10.
