"Bright red-purple; produced 100-year-old vines on Carl Lindner's..."

Bright red-purple; produced 100-year-old vines on Carl Lindner's vineyards, hand-picked, openfermented and basket-pressed into French oak, and bottled without filtration or fining. The fragrant bouquet leads into a fresh and juicy medium-bodied palate, with both black and red fruits supported by silky tannins and a dab of oak.Drink by 2020. James Halliday's top value wines $20 & under

"As much as I love the Barossa valley its not my favourite region..."

As much as I love the Barossa valley its not my favourite region probably because Shiraz is not my grape of choice. Having said that I think when it's done right (ie. not 6000 percent alcohol) it can be yummy, more-ish and just a joy to drink. Over a 3 day period I drank this wine; my first impression was that I was not that fimiliar with the nose but I warmed to it; more blue fruits I suspect. One thing I think a wine must do is make you salivate which you get from good acid within the grape hence lower alcohol so a big tick to the "Lionheart" for this. It's not huge on length but great for the price. I have tasted many a wine at twice this price point and i have been dissapointed so thumbs up.
